Part of me thinks I should just get an Epiphone to scratch the itch and, if I end up really using it a lot, look for an upgrade down the line. I've also wondered if there are other semi-hollows with humbuckers that I might check out - thinline teles, novos, etc? Can someone recommend what ES-335 style guitar they'd get for $3k or less? I am brand new to the world of Gibson and have seen but never committed to memory whatever lessons should be learned from different eras, broken headstocks, quality levels, etc. I play indie/alt rock and sometimes more indie-country sounding stuff. Once upon a time I really disliked the feeling of Gibson necks, but perhaps my time on a jaguar has changed that for me and I'm ready to see the light. I played an Epiphone 'Inspired by Gibson' ES-335 the other day and was quite taken by its tone and feel. Crafted in the Elitist factory in Japan, Epiphone’s craftsmanship on this one is flawless. ![]() I've been a fender guy all my life, always gravitated to single coils and Teles, Jaguars, etc. ![]()
